Pharmacy Technician – Saginaw

The Pharmacy Technician is a vital position in the retail pharmacy and therefore plays an important part in the success and culture development of our store. This job demands a professional, caring and service oriented attitude. For this position a person must be good with people, patient, understanding, and able to work while a variety of different tasks are going on simultaneously, always leading by example and nurturing/maintaining our HomeTown mission. The duties of this job are as follows:

  • Greet/wait on/service/answer question etc. for the store’s customers
  • Receive prescriptions/gather and process patient information
  • Computer processing/adding patients, doctors, drugs, etc…
  • Filling Rxs/processing/counting/labeling, etc…
  • Answering the phone
  • Call Doctor’s office for refills when needed
  • Calling Doctor’s office for patient/Rx information –clarification, etc…
  • Take phone in prescriptions from Doctor’s office @ pharmacists delegation
  • Call insurance company when needed
  • Checking in Rx orders for patient/calling on shorts, overages, order errors, outdates, credits, out of stocks etc. (including the out-front orders when necessary)
  • Inventory control-walking the shelves/straightening/checking for outs and over stock/checking for outdates, etc…
  • Daily orders for inventory/stock
  • Checking on owes and make sure items have been ordered and received promptly
  • Stock Rx dept. daily with supplies/bags/vials, etc…
  • Clean Rx dept.-straighten/dust/empty trash/vacuum, etc…
  • Do Rx daily numbers
  • File and complete daily information on Rx’s filled
  • Separate and file invoices
  • Check in C-IIs and complete order forms
  • Return prescriptions to stock not picked after 30 days, credit insurance company and patient records
  • All third party vouchers are sent to the corporate office with weekly packet. Please remember to print out the third party spreadsheet date them and initial all vouchers.
  • Reconciliation disk is sent to the corporate office with weekly packets
  • Outstanding DME totals are reported on a monthly basis to the corporate office
  • Outdate checks are posted under miscellaneous, not third party
  • Clean/maintain the computer system
  • Run cash register
  • Help out front when necessary
  • Establish A/R routine for the store and communicate it to all fellow employees
  • Keep A/R up to date and accurate
  • Keep pharmacy manager updated as to any problem accounts or discrepancies
  • Print and mail out statements in a timely manner at the end of each month
  • Make sure all past due accounts are taken care of in a timely manner
  • Train back up person for vacations, sick days, etc…
  • Report to manager account report of total A/R and their breakdown at the end of each month. Fax totals page to the corporate office
  • Make sure that everyone running a cash register is aware of bad accounts, or questionable circumstances
  • In store/ 3rd party A/R total reported monthly including signed receipt of amount charged retained for store records.
  • Post charges and paid charges daily to each account. Send statements first of month to any outstanding accounts. Monitor closely.
  • General housekeeping to be completed by store team:
  • Daily: empty trash, vacuum
  • Weekly: clean bathrooms, dust shelves/fixtures
  • As needed/requested: move products/boxes; run errands/make deliveries; face products on shelving
  • Do whatever is deemed necessary for creating a friendly, caring, safe and happy environment/culture for both customer and teammates.
